The Brant Beach Taxpayers Association hosts two annual membership meetings. Our Spring meeting updates members as to activities in Brant Beach and Long Beach Township, including a guest speaker. Our Fall Meeting is similar and includes BBTA business, such as election of officers and other such matters that may impact the Association

• Our 2025 Fall Meeting date is Sept 20, 2025
• Our 2026 Spring Meeting date is TBA

In addition, BBTA will sponsor its second Winter Speaker Series, in conjunction with the Brant Beach Yacht Club. These are held once a month on a Saturday morning at 10am at the Brant Beach Yacht Club Sailing Center at 6106 Bayview Avenue.

Jeff will present a “living history” lesson that dives into the daily life of a soldier during the War of 1812. Join Barnegat Light Museum Curator Reilly P. Sharp as he chronicles 170 years of bravery and tragedy of our Island Life-Savers and Coast Guardsmen. The stories and images of those who battled the dangers of the sea to save those in peril will testify to their sacrifice and enduring legacy in our Island community.

Topic: Tides of Terror: the Hurricanes and Nor’easters That Shaped Our Island

Dramatic accounts and riveting photographs courtesy of Barnegat Light Museum Curator Reilly P. Sharp will reveal the scale of destruction from some of the Island’s most damaging storms, while also highlighting the resilience of Islanders over the centuries who have overcome Mother Nature’s wrath for the chance to live by and with the ocean in all its beauty, bounties, and fury.

Topic: The Life of Ellen S. Low, Principal Lighthouse Keeper at Barnegat Light

Please join us for a lecture about lighthouse keeper Ellen S. Low, LBI during the 1830s, other female keepers, Ellen’s gown, and some fashion history explaining why her gown looks the way it does. The Ellen S. Low Gown, designed and researched by Liz Daukas Oliner, honors Long Beach Island’s only female principal lighthouse keeper, who held the light alone through the brutal winter months of January to April of 1839.

Topic: Boating with Safety and Confidence

If you are like many boaters, the navigation and safety details you learned in your Boating Safety certification course may have escaped your memory.

We will review the rules of the road and discuss the most common mistakes and misconceptions, with the goal of keeping you, your friends and your family safe on the water next summer. Our speaker is Captain Ed Boyle, a US Certified Coast Guard Captain for Hire, who provides boating and fishing instruction.
