This issue covers the Fall BBTA meeting, property taxes and other items.
❖ The Fall BBTA Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 10am at the 68th St. Municipal Complex. Our guest speaker will be Township Commissioner Allie Meehan. You are invited to ask questions, greet your neighbors, and enjoy coffee and baked goods.
❖ Come see the BBTA History Panels! The five outdoor panels are permanently mounted near the 68th Street bocce and basketball courts. The BBTA trustees designed the panels, your member dues and contributions funded the panels, and the Township installed them. Three panels illustrate LBI history, one panel highlights Brant Beach, and one panel is titled Great Storms.
❖ Property taxes are due on Monday, August 24 with no grace period. To view or to pay your bill, click here and type in your last name. To contact the tax collector’s office, call 609-361-6682, or email taxoffice@longbeachtownship.com.
❖ Property tax increases: Your total property tax bill increased by 9.2% this year versus last year. County taxes rose almost 12%. Regional school taxes rose 7.6%. The Long Beach Township tax increase was only 1.9%.
❖ The Cardboard Boat Regatta is on Saturday, Sept 12 at 9am. The spectators are the biggest winners! Click here.
❖ Pizza Fest is on Sunday, Sept 13 from 12-4pm. It’s a township-sponsored pizza extravaganza, with kids’ activities, adult beverages, music by The Pickles, and NFL football on the big screen. Free to attend. Click here.
❖ The Harvest Hayride is on Saturday, October 24 from 12-2pm. Click here.
❖ Township tennis and pickleball courts are available for use after Labor Day without the special recreation badge.
COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING
Representatives from the Brant Beach Taxpayers Association including Pete Potochney, Mike Fahner, Janis Metz and Donn O’Brien attended the August 3 Long Beach Township Commissioners’ Meeting. All Township owners and residents are welcome to speak at the monthly Commissioners’ Meeting, which are generally held at 4pm on the first Monday of the month at the Municipal Building. Due to Labor Day, the next meeting will be held on Monday, September 14.
❖ Shoo the Shibumi: The Shibumi is a wind-powered beach canopy that has a large piece of fabric threaded onto an aluminum hoop and held aloft by the breeze. A North Beach resident presented updated information and requested that Long Beach Township allow Shibumis on our beaches. The mayor replied that he will not reconsider the ban because our lifeguards report that the Shibumi compromises safety by interfering with their line of sight.
❖ Bayview Park private party permit approved: The Commissioners approved a permit request to rent Bayview Park on Tuesday, September 8 for a private party including fireworks for Fantasy Island employees. The public is not invited, but the fireworks will be visible in Brant Beach.

❖ Passed on Second Reading At second readings, the floor is open for public comments. When that exchange concludes, the commissioners and mayor vote to accept or reject the ordinance.
26-11C: This ordinance creates a No-Knock Registry for use by homeowners to discourage solicitors. It establishes solicitors’ permit requirements, fees and penalties. Charitable organizations will need a permit, but without a fee. The ordinance is designed to regulate solicitors while respecting First Amendment speech rights.
