Brant Beach Bulletin – March 14th, 2026

Brant Beach Bulletin
March 14th, 2026

This issue covers many topics including the final event of the BBTA Winter Speaker Series, the state of our beaches, and the Township Commissioners’ Public Meeting.

Boating with Safety and Confidence: If you are like many boaters, the navigation and safety details you learned in your Boating Safety certification course may have escaped your memory. Is it red-right-return when you’re heading toward Barnegat Light or toward Holgate? Do I open or close the doors and hatches when fueling? Can our 14-year-old houseguest borrow the jet ski?

We will review the rules of the road and discuss the most common mistakes and misconceptions, with the goal of keeping you and your family safe on the water this summer. Our speaker is Captain Ed Boyle, a US Certified Coast Guard Captain for Hire, who provides boating and fishing instruction.

BBTA and BBYC members are invited to join us at 10am on Saturday, April 11th at the Brant Beach Yacht Club Sailing Center at 6106 Bayview Avenue.

The first thirty minutes will feature refreshments and socializing with your neighbors, followed by an all-new one-hour presentation.

This free event is open only to BBTA and BBYC members. No registration is required. Families are welcome.

Beach Erosion: This winter continues to be tough on our beaches. After the blizzard, some of our beach ramps were barricaded due to sand cliffs, and the Township’s bulldozers are now working to restore the paths. The Army Corps of Engineers plans to address erosion at four sites in Cape May County. However, because this was a “worst-first” effort, LBI’s beaches were not included.

We continue to recommend everyone contact our representatives in Washington Senator Cory Booker at (973) 639-8700, Senator Andy Kim at (201) 377-0900, and, Congressman Jeff Van Drew at (609) 625-5008 to press for restoration of Federal beach replenishment funding.

No Deal on NJ REAL?: While the new Resilient Environments And Landscapes regulation to increase building heights was to become effective in late January, it appears that a resolution sponsored by NJ Senate President Nick Scutari could impact implementation. More to follow as this develops. Here’s BBTA’s FAQ on the pending rules.

Easter Bunny: Join the Easter Bunny at the St. Francis Community Center, 4700 Long Beach Blvd from 12-2 on March 21 and enjoy free crafts and games. Bring your own basket to get some candy-filled eggs! The Township has decided to move the event indoors since our March weather is too unpredictable.

Maritime Museum Damage: Beach Haven’s Museum of NJ Maritime History is the keeper and protector of much of the Shore’s impressive nautical history. On Feb 9th it suffered major water damage due to a broken sprinkler pipe during the extreme cold weather and now needs extensive repairs. While the museum has insurance coverage, it welcomes donations to aid in its recovery, reopening and ongoing programming. Please consider supporting this worthy facility, perhaps through their fundraiser.

Tilly’s Empanadas is proposed for the former Pinky Shrimp’s on 82nd St. just outside Brant Beach. Their application was approved this week by the Land Use Board.

Townwide Yard Sale dates are Saturday, May 23 (rain date May 24) and Saturday, July 4 (rain date July 5). Permits are $10 at Garage-Sale-Application-Fillable.pdf.

Renew your dog license in person or by mail with this form: 2026-DOG-LICENSE-APP.pdf.

The Beach Badge Shack opens on April 3rd (even though the Municipal Building will be closed that day) with discounted season badges at $40 through June 15.

Life Saving Drone: You may recall that the Township announced it was obtaining a drone system that would be capable of, among other things, delivering life preservers to swimmers in distress. The dock for the drone system has now been installed, and the system is scheduled to be operational on April 1st.

The Township Municipal Building is closed on Friday, April 3rd, in observance of Good Friday.

Would you like to include another member of your household in your BBTA membership? They will receive our monthly bulletin via email. There is no additional cost.
