Brant Beach Bulletin
November 11th, 2025
This issue covers many topics including the BBTA Winter Speaker Series and the March Township Commissioners’ Public Meeting.
❖ You’re invited to “The Life of a Soldier in the War of 1812” on December 13.
Come with us as we journey back in time to 1812 with local historian and history teacher Jeff Brown, a passionate historical reenactor. Jeff will present a “living history” lesson that dives into the daily life of a soldier during the War of 1812. Discover the food they ate, the clothing they wore, and the sacrifices they made during this pivotal time in history. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience history come alive!
This is the second of six BBTA talks in our Winter Series. They are held at 10am on Saturday mornings at the Brant Beach Yacht Club Sailing Center at 6106 Bayview Avenue. The first thirty minutes feature refreshments and socializing with your neighbors, followed by a one-hour presentation. This free event is open only to BBTA and BBYC members. No registration is required. Families are welcome.
❖ Upcoming topics in this series include:
Jan 17: Tales from the Life Saving Service
Feb 14: Hurricanes of the Jersey Shore
Mar 7: Ellen Low, Barnegat Lighthouse Keeper
Apr 11: Boating with Safety and Confidence
❖ LBT water/sewer rates and billing schedules will remain the same for 2026.
❖ The drop box for water/sewer and property tax payments may be inaccessible for a few weeks due to building renovation. You may need to go to the inside window.
❖ Driving on the Boulevard Once again, Mayor Mancini asks all drivers to Keep Right/Pass Left. He advised that LBT police officers are ticketing drivers who use the left lane as a driving lane instead of a passing lane, especially since traffic is lighter at this time of year. The Mayor also stressed electric bike safety, emphasizing that they must obey all traffic signs and rules.
❖ LBT Employee Health Plan. Our Township, like many others, will be terminating its participation in the State Health Benefits Program effective January 1, 2026. Instead, the Township will work directly with health insurance providers to secure the same coverage at a significantly lower cost. Had LBT continued with the State program, premiums for the two plans currently offered would have risen over 30% and 50%, respectively, in 2026, as per the Mayor.
❖ Sandbags. Do you need sand to fill sandbags as you prepare to winterize your property? Our Department of Public Works has free sand available Monday-Friday from 8:30am-2:30pm at the DPW yard at 79th Street and the Boulevard in Brant Beach. Please don’t use beach sand for this purpose.
❖ The Main Clubhouse of the Brant Beach Yacht Club is scheduled for demolition in December. The new building will occupy the same footprint as before. The exterior stye will be similar to the previous structure but will meet the new flood elevation requirements. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months. (The BBTA Winter Speaker Series is held at the smaller clubhouse at 6106 Bayview Avenue, which is unaffected.)
❖ Water main replacement and installation of storm drain pumps by the Township are ongoing and will affect traffic patterns.
❖ Portions of the Boulevard will be repaved this spring by the County.
❖ The Municipal Building will be closed on November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day, and November 27-28 for Thanksgiving.
COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING
Representatives from the Brant Beach Taxpayers Association including Pete Potochney, Mike Fahner, and Ben Tonti attended the November 3 Long Beach Township Commissioners’ Meeting.
Ordinances
❖ Proposed on First Reading. First reading ordinances are available by emailing the Township at dbrady@longbeachtownship.com.
25-21C: Dewatering a swimming pool by laying a hose across Ocean Boulevard would be prohibited from June 16 to September 15. After September 15, police approval would be required. The existing regulations can be found here.
❖ Passed on Second Reading Full text is here.
25-18C: This ordinance expands the time period allowed between preliminary site plan approval and final site plan submission. The time period was extended from six months to three years, with extensions up to two years. Final site plan approval expires after two years unless building permits are secured.
25-19: Authorized the purchase of a wetlands lot near the LBT Marine Education Field Station on Marshall Avenue in Holgate for $10,000. The Township is buying lots near the Field Station when they become available to support conservation efforts.
25-20C: It is already unlawful to use security cameras on private property in a way that invades the privacy of others who have a reasonable expectation of privacy. This ordinance updates allowable camera locations. Cameras are permitted on the front or rear of a structure, but not on a side that faces another residence. If the camera can record at an angle of 180° or greater, it must be located at least 5 feet from the side wall. Cameras are prohibited at heights above 10 feet on any structure adjacent to a residence.
The Brant Beach Taxpayers Association wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving.
